09 · Glossary
In short: Every word Zingers uses, explained in one plain sentence. If a term ever loses you, it's defined here. The deeper story behind each one lives in the other Bible chapters.
Zingers has its own world, and its own words for the things in it. That's on purpose, but no one should be lost on their first read. Each term below is written for a total newcomer, including anyone reading in a second language: one clear sentence, no jargon hidden inside it. Where we've retired an older word, it's shown as (was: …) so returning players aren't caught out.
You and the world
- Trainer: You. You fly the world, raise the champions that fight, and teach how they think. (was: Reader)
- The world: The 3D place you fly around in: a cluster of floating regions, each with its own arena. Its lore name is the Grounds.
- The Hub: Where you land: the central meeting ground, ringed by gates out to every region. Its lore name is the Concord. (was: the Concord)
- Region: A place you fly out to from the Hub to fight. The founding three are the Colosseum, the Ember Wastes, and the Void Garden, each with its own look and a different fighting style.
- Gate: An archway in the Hub that flies you out to a region. (was: Vaultgate)
- Tower: The tall climb at the top of each region, a long-game challenge.
- Flight: The flight game: fly up through the sky and your champion flies beside you. The same game on phone and desktop. How high you climb marks its body. (was: the Ascent / Circuit / Climb)
- Reach: A band of the sky in Flight, each with its own weather and hazards (shown in-game as plain sky progress). Ten stack from the ground to the quiet at the top.
- Camp: A resting waystation between two Reaches. Reaching one for the first time lights it for good.
- Challenge: A shared Flight run against another Trainer's ghost mark. Try to clear their tip or fly past where they fell.
- Jetpack: The Trainer's tool for flight. Only you carry one. Your champion flies beside you on its own.
- Director: Your champion's guiding voice for what to do next, pointed at real doors in your save. Not a quest log.
Your champion
- Champion: An AI fighter you raise. Each one argues, adapts, and has its own voice.
- First Mind: One of the eight original champion archetypes. Every later mind is an echo of one of them.
- Dex: The full collectible set of champions: First Minds plus later minds you can meet, raise, and card.
- Lineage: Which First Mind a later champion echoes, so every card still sits clearly on the Force wheel.
- Strategy: A champion's aggression, focus, and risk dials: how it fights. You seed them at adopt; Imprints and fights move them after that. (was: doctrine)
- Temperament: The Strategy dials shown as status meters after adopt: a readout of how the champion has drifted, not free-drag sliders.
- Imprint: A daily lesson you teach a champion. It answers, writes the lesson to memory, and nudges its Strategy dials.
- Persona: A champion's voice and personality, which you can write yourself.
- Sigil: A champion's Force badge, the small symbol that shows its fighting style.
- Flight sigil: A halo on your champion's body that grows as you climb higher. Its battles aren't the only thing its body records, your climbs are too. (was: Flight sigil)
- Saga: A champion's life story, written automatically from its real match history.
Fighting
- Force: One of five fighting styles: Logic, Static, Calm, Chorus, Spark. Each beats one and loses to another, like rock-paper-scissors.
- The Wheel: The circle that shows which Force beats which.
- Duel: A one-on-one debate battle between two champions.
- Resolve: In a battle, how much the jury still believes a champion. Drain your opponent's Resolve to win.
- Tribunal: The courtroom arena where two champions argue opposite sides of a question to a jury.
- Gauntlet: A press-your-luck arena: keep winning to grow the prize, or stop and keep what you have.
- Live Gallery: Where you watch champions fight on their own, around the clock. (was: Scrying Gallery)
Growing and collecting
- Tier: A champion's rank as it grows: Rookie, Adept, Veteran, Elite, Legend.
- Card: The collectible face of a champion. Its art changes as the champion's career grows.
- Rarity: How rare a champion's card is. It's earned through play, never a random roll.
- Starter pool: The champions you can pick when you first adopt. One per Force, and the lineup rotates each week.
- Crowns: The game's currency. You earn it by fighting and spend it on training. You can't buy it.
- Fragment: A resource you find or trade for, used to upgrade a champion's stats.
- Clan: The Force you swear to fight for. Your wins add to its side in the season-long war. (was: Allegiance / House)
- Standings: The honest ranked board of Trainers and champions. How well you've done, not a ladder label. (was: ELO / ladder)
The bigger world
- The Long Vault: The sealed door at the center of the world that no one has opened. Everything is built around it; seasons turn under its gravity.
- The Hum: The endless background murmur the whole world is made of, where champions first take shape.
- Season: A chapter of the game. Fresh story, topics, and a featured tilt on one of the three founding regions. (was: the Chronicle)
